The remarkable stability of fertility desires during the Colombian armed conflict 2000–2016

Limited attention has been paid so far to the impacts of war on proximate determinants fertility, including childbearing preferences. This study explores relationship between exposure local conflict violence and fertility desires in Colombia. I combined nationally representative micro-level data timing, frequency decisiveness reproductive preferences from Demographic Health Surveys, with geospatial information about Uppsala Conflict Data Program 2000 2016. The results show a remarkable stability women's relation during observation period, robust multiple respecifications sample, statistical model measurements. indicates that previously reported increases behaviour cannot be explained by altered preferences, suggesting surge unwanted pregnancies. highlights need for policy programs support women realising their whatever they may be.
